Domaine de La Chenillière

For a weekend or a vacation, in the center of France, 5 mn from the medieval village of Pontlevoy, 30 mn from Amboise, Blois, Chaumont sur loire, Cheverny, Chenonceau, 2 h from Paris (train or car) ...Once you've crossed the hedge, you realize you ar out of time, far from the hustle and bustle of the world, surrounded by nature and the magic of old stones. These walls are steeped in history: originally housed one of the farms of Pontlevoy Abbey. Today the estate hosts joyful gatherings where guests can rest by the fire or in the shade of the lime tree, enjoying the spectacle of the changing sky over the pond. Besides its size, capable of accommodating XL tribes, it has the ambience of a family home nestled in nature that seduces passing travelers.

Le domaine de la Chenillière is a refuge for everyone who dreams of a french country house where they can invite friends, get together as a family, barbecue on the soft grass in front of the pond in the background, start the day with a dip in the swimming pool (heated indoor for the exclusive use of the tenants) before having coffee in the sun, while the children play ping pong or swing on the swing, with herons in the background and deer as their only neighbors.

Located in the Touraine region, the former hamlet of La Chenillère is the ideal 'home away from home', in a peaceful setting, for getting away from it all, for a weekend, for vacations, for yoga, watercolor or cooking workshops....

Recently renovated, the old farmhouse, comprising two separate buildings, has retained its authenticity. Beautifully restored, carefully decorated, with beams and fireplaces, without losing any of its historical character. It was featured on the TV channel France 5 and selected for the special Loire Valley program.

Inside, everything has been designed for an 'uncomplicated' vacation.

All the bedrooms are upstairs. It is so quiet, we sleep like babies.

In winter, the house is very pleasant to live in, with its central heating and large fireplace.

The living room and its TV corner invite you to relax, open a book, or choose a DVD for a movie night.

In warm weather, the old lime tree provides shade, with outdoor dining shaded with large tables.

At sunset, the view over the Park invites contemplation.

The Park extends over more than a hectare and includes a lush green garden, two ponds, an orchard, a 6 x 3 m indoor heated swimming pool (children who can't swim must remain under parental supervision), a ping-pong table, a barbecue, a swing and pétanque balls.

Many chaise lounges are available.

Come in spring, the irises and daffodils are in full bloom.

Come in summer, wisteria invades the façade, and lavender perfumes the garden.

Come in autumn, for a last sip of vacation. Everything turns ochre...

Come in winter, the bare trees look fantastic.

All year round, the pond is a permanent spectacle: herons, moorhens, ducks and swans perform a magical ballet. As for the hundred-year-old oaks, the best way to contemplate them is lying on the grass

Explore the hiking trails in the nearby forest, take a walk in the park, but the pond is not part of the property, so it's not possible to fish or sail there.

The property is always rented in its entirety to a single family. The entire estate, park and swimming pool are at your disposal.

In the past, this hamlet was saved from oblivion by Marc Riboud, the famous Magnum reporter-photographer, who fell in love with the hamlet, restored it and made it his second home.
